We will start the evening with physical and spiritual shamanic cleansing that includes smudging with Copal and the application of a traditional Brazilian plant medicine known as Rapé. Following the Rapé Ceremony ARKAWA will take us on a sacred sound healing journey to nourish and rejuvenate our spirit and open our hearts.
ARKAWA
Is a multi-instrumentalist musician, producer, composer and arranger of indigenous Colombian descent from the town of Los Pastos. With more than 25 years of musical experience, he bases his work on the fusion of instruments and ethnic music from different parts of the world, as well as cultural knowledge from diverse ancestral communities and contemporary technology. He is a self-taught performer on more than 100 wind instruments from around the world, as well as rare stringed instruments from Iran, China, and Colombia. In 2014 he was recognized by the Congress of the Republic of Colombia for the contribution of his artistic career.
MUSICAL EXPERIENCE
Juan Carlos has given concerts in major Colombian cities as well as internationally in Rome, Prague, New York, Miami, Washington DC, Greece, Spain, Germany, Austria and more. He has appeared on television and radio internationally (Telemundo, Univision, CCTV Channel of Central China, et al.), and has produced over 80 works for Colombian and international artists.
COPAL CLEANSING
Copal is a tree resin that comes from trees in the Buresa family that is used to purify the energy of the aura and surrounding space.
RAPE' (HAPÈ) CEREMONY
Rapé is a snuff made from ancient amazonian plants whose main component is amazonian shamanic tobacco ground into a fine powder that is administered up the nose with a traditional ceremonial blow pipe. Rapé works to realign and open all of the chakras, grounds your energy, helps to release sickness on physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels, opens-up the third eye, de-calcifies the pineal gland, clears your mind of negativity, removes any entities, connects you to your divine breath, and elevates your connection with Spirit.
The effects vary, depending on each person. Some things you might experience may include sweating, tears, increase of pulse, and in some cases, vomiting. These effects generally subside within a few minutes and a deep meditative state is easily accessed.
You may experience purging, vomiting, bowel movements and excess saliva, which is normal – where stuck energy, toxins and sickness are being released from your energetic and physical bodies. You may need a bucket, toilet tissue and drinking water close to hand.
Please dress comfortably and bring a blanket or mat to sit on, tissue and a bottle of water.
PARKING is directly across the street from the house. There is a small u shaped street Fern Circle, parking is alongside both sides of the street.
Please be conscious that others will need to use the street as well and park accordingly! Be aware that there needs to be room left for emergency vehicles to pass through. Also, you may park on Davis Drive or the west side of Hampton between Livingston & Robinson} or at the UU Church.
