AI/LLMs in Pentesting
This month, Tim Skoch will be walking through a high-level overview of generative AI. His interest in the topic is personal (because it's just plain cool) and professional (because lately, every organization has been looking for a way to shove AI into... all the products!). As security practitioners, it is important for us to have at least a high-level understanding of these technologies, as well as how they differ from traditional technologies with regard to security.
Tim Skoch has worked in various technical roles (SASS engineer, applications developer, security engineer, penetration tester) across multiple organizations (University of Arkansas, JB Hunt, and KoreLogic (current)). At home he runs a marginally overkill home lab that he uses to learn and experiment with new technologies. This is particularly useful as a pentester, where projects often require testers to get up-to-speed quickly on a variety of technology stacks. Incidentally, the home lab also help keep the house warm during winter months!
