Continuing its Golden Anniversary theme, The Arizona Winds Concert Band will “ring in” the Christmas season for its West Valley audience at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 15th with its “Christmas Gold” concert at the Vista Center for the Arts in Surprise. Well-known for its innovative programming and entertaining presentations, the Arizona Winds continues its tradition of excellence, bringing the spirit of Christmas joy to its enthusiastic audience with unique seasonal arrangements including A Nutcracker Fantasy; Minor Alterations II (Carols from the Dark Side); Hark! Those Jingle Bells are Smokin’; Parade of the Wooden Soldier; and the special Christmas story Twas the Night Before Christmas, narrated by the “Voice of the Arizona Winds”, John Sipple.
Other works on the program include Dreidel Dance; Leroy Anderson’s famous A Christmas Festival; Angels of Joy; an audience favorite Christmas sing a-long; and ever-popular Sleigh Ride led by a special young guest conductor.
“This is a great concert for the entire family”, stated the band’s Music Director and Conductor Rich Shelton. “Bring your family and friends and leave less than two hours later filled of the spirit of Christmas”, Shelton continued.
Arizona Winds concerts are held at 4:00 p.m. at the Vista Center for the Arts, 15802 N. Parkview Place, Surprise with doors opening at 3:00. Admission is free.
