Arizona Glass Alliance will host an evening with local glass artists Steve Ciezki and Elaine Rettger at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026.
The free, public event will take place at the Scottsdale Ranch Clubhouse, 10585 N. 100th St. in Scottsdale. Reservations are required. To reserve a spot, email [email protected].
Ciezki is the author of “Life on the Rails,” a book of glassblowing techniques, and is known for his Stack and Tower sculptures as well as his paintings on glass. With a background in traditional drawing, painting, glassblowing and photography, he incorporates new technology to create meditative, rhythmic works. He was a resident artist at the Studio of The Corning Museum of Glass in 2014, received the Art Group Creative Fellowship at Canberra Glassworks in 2018, and has lectured at glass studios in Turkey, Belgium, Australia, Japan, and across the United States.
Rettger, a native of Ohio, earned a double major in graphic design and industrial design from Purdue University. She later moved to Arizona to pursue a career in graphic design, creating visually balanced marketing materials. In the early 2000s, she became fascinated by the properties of glass and began taking glass technique classes. Her signature style explores light and shadow, combining collage, painting and watercolor powder glass wafer constructions to create washes of color reminiscent of watercolor paintings.
