About Marcela Duran:
Experience the Passion of Argentine Tango with “The Woman of the Tango”
Join internationally acclaimed Argentine Tango dancer and master teacher Marcela Durán for a weekend of movement, connection, and rhythm! Known as “The Woman of the Tango”, Marcela is an icon of the global tango scene and a celebrated performer of the Broadway show Forever Tango. Her influence has inspired countless Argentine Tango teachers and social dancers worldwide.
Marcela’s first connection to tango came through her father, a bandoneon player, in the tango orchestras of Rosario, Argentina. She began dancing tango in 1988 at Salon Canning and quickly immersed herself in the world of milongueros, absorbing the essence and soul of the dance. Over the years, Marcela has performed on stages around the world, including Broadway, the Boston Pops Orchestra, the Spoleto Festival in Italy, the Colon Theatre Opera House in Buenos Aires, and countless international venues. She was also crowned World Champion of the Dance Sport Championship in Argentine Tango in 2000.
Together with her partner, the legendary Carlos Gavito, Marcela developed a unique and dramatically close tango embrace that has influenced dancers worldwide. They exemplified how tango can be danced on stage without losing its deep, expressive soul.
This workshop weekend will combine Marcela’s unparalleled expertise with social and performance experiences:
Saturday & Sunday: Workshops covering technique, musicality, partner connection, and stage presence in Argentine Tango.
Saturday Evening: Milonga Social – practice your new skills on the dance floor with guidance from Marcela.
