In this foundational workshop, we'll focus on mastering the essential elements of tango technique. Rita will guide you through:
Upper Body Technique: Perfect your posture and embrace to create a strong connection with your partner.
Lower Body Technique: Work on free leg movements, weight transfer, and pivots for fluidity and grace.
Dynamic Walking: Explore the different dynamics in walking, such as acceleration, slowing down, and pauses.
Creating Sequences: Using basic elements like the walk, cross step, and ochos, learn to create varied sequences.

Workshop 2: Milonga - Open to All Levels

Milonga, a lively and rhythm-driven dance, will be the focus of this session. With a rich history influenced by African Candombé, this workshop will emphasize:
Fast and Sharp Rhythm: Milonga’s 2/4 beat demands precision and energy.
Close Embrace: Develop the intimacy and connection that define this dance.
Small Steps & Compact Weight Transfer: Master the quick, tight movements that make Milonga unique.
ABOUT RITA HENDRIKS
Rita graduated from the Kon. Ballet school Antwerp in 1974.She danced at Kon. Ballet v. Vlaanderen, the Landestheater Detmold and the Stadtheater Bielefeld(D).
Back in Belgium she obtained the pedagogical diploma as a dance teacher, and worked as a free-lance dancer at the Arena theater Ghent (musical) for various TV shows and theater productions.
For many years she taught classical ballet, jazz dance and modern dance in various schools. In 1984 she returned to the Royal Ballet School, where she was head of the costume department, teacher of make-up, rehearsal and stage manager.
She was associated with NTGent for 4 seasons as a costume designer, choreographer and she played in the productions Het Bal & Titanic.
In 1992 she started with Pol Van Assche with the Argentine Tango and quickly became his regular dance partner. Together they gave many performances and demos with the orchestra Alfredo Marcucci, and the Philharmonie conducted by Dirk Brossé
For more than 30 years she has been sharing her passion with all those who want to learn the beautiful dance form of Argentine Tango, in group or private lessons.
