About this Event
Join us in Ardwick for an interactive and engaging walking tour that uncovers the women who fought for social justice and shaped our working lives.
Developed by the Ardwick Education Partnership CiC in collaboration with local community groups and the University of Manchester, this two-mile route begins at Medlock Primary School and ends at the Ellen Wilkinson Building.
Along the way, you’ll be introduced to a remarkable range of often forgotten or overlooked female social justice activists – from Ellen Wilkinson herself to contemporary figures still shaping our communities today.
Perfect for anyone interested in local history, social justice, women’s rights, or discovering the untold stories that continue to inspire change.
This event is part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science 2025 and was made possible thanks to funding from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), which is part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI)
