Located between 74 to 84 degrees north latitude, Svalbard is a Norwegian archipelago in the Arctic Ocean. The northernmost settlement in the world with a civilian population, it has a rich history of whaling and mining and is used today primarily as a location for tourism and scientific research. Follow Betty’s journey as she recounts her experiences there as part of an expedition of students and teachers.
