Come along and immerse yourself in LGBT+ history in a safe and welcoming environment, while you enjoy some tea and cake! This session will focus on the history of Transpire, Southend's first transgender support group. We will begin with a short talk from Gina Denham who founded Transpire in 2016, in response to the isolation felt by trans people in the area. Following this will be a collective exercise in object documentation where we will be officially accessioning artefacts from the beginnings of Transpire into the collection of Southend Museums, preserving this important archive for the future!
You can access the Lecture Theatre using the side doors located between the Beecroft Art Gallery and Southend Central Museum. Free attendance!
