ABOUT THE LECTURE
2 - The City in Film: City Icons
Most cities and towns have that one building or structure that is able to represent the city as a whole. Think: Eiffel Tower, Big Ben, or the Brooklyn Bridge. Many directors exploit this fact to quickly set the scene of their films.
ABOUT THE SERIES
Ever since its invention in the late 19th century, film has included buildings, streets, and whole cities as part of their story-telling. Join Architecture Sarasota’s Scholar-in-Residence Dr. Christopher Wilson as he presents the various usages of architecture and the built environment in the cinema.
