About this Event

This tour takes in 12 buildings from the Post-War period in Leicester, starting with buildings in the city centre before heading to the University of Leicester to look at the architecture of those buildings.

The University of Leicester has work from some of the most important Post-War designers and this tour will provide contect for a deeper understanding of what are now part of Leicester's important architectural history.

The tour encompasses various buildings starting with the Haymarket Shopping Centre, Crown House, Curve theatre, Charles Wilson Building, Attenborough Tower, and the Engineering Building at the university, amongst others.

This walk starts on Humberstone Gate at it's junction with Fox Lane, adjacent to Barclays Bank and Nationwide Building Society.

New Walkers

If you have not walked with Leicester City Council before we will ask you to complete our Walker Registration form in advance of the walk online or by phone. You will receive an email with a link to the online form in the days leading up to the event. You only need to do this once and can attend any of our walks thereafter (subject to booking a place on Eventbrite).

Dress for the weather

Remember to dress appropriately for the weather. Our group walks will go ahead in most weather. We recommend the following:

Comfortable sturdy footwear
Bring a raincoat or umbrella in case of rain
On cooler days wear appropriate layers and a coat/jacket
On hot days we recommend a hat and sunscreen
Please bring a bottle of water with you.

Group size

We ask walkers to book in advance so we can keep our group sizes manageable.
