About this Event
Join us for a special opening event to celebrate the Southern Highlands premiere of the Archibald Prize 2024 and Ngununggula’s final exhibition of the year.
The Archibald Prize is eagerly anticipated by artists and audiences alike, and to mark this momentous occasion for our region, our opening event will be brimming with entertainment and activities for the entire family. Book your tickets and be among the first to view this iconic exhibition in the Southern Highlands!
Hear from guest speakers Wayne Tunnicliffe Head Curator, Australian Art at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, and Mayor Jesse Fitzpatrick of Wingecarribee Shire Council who will officially open the exhibition.
Enjoy live music performances by Monica Trapaga and DJ Leo Tanoi, delicious food offerings from Hearth by Moonacres, Hot Canary and Will's Kitchen, plus summer cocktails by SoHi Spirits. For families, children can enjoy art-making workshops and have their faces painted or portraits drawn by a caricaturist. Did we mention there will be a jumping castle?
We will also reveal our latest addition to the Ngununggula grounds: The Composer, by Caroline Rothwell. A 6-meter-high kinetic sculpture that delves into current issues surrounding energy consumption.
We open our doors from 5 pm, with the official opening at 5.30 pm and live music from 6.30 pm.
