About this Event
The Bowmen of Walker Archery offer AGB recognised beginners courses for anyone over the age of 11 years wishing to take up archery as a sport or just to have a fun archery experience. The sessions are delivered by qualified coaches and are an enjoyable introduction to target archery.
Our beginners course will consist of 2 x 2 hour sessions on each of 2 days. The sessions will take place on Saturday 10th August and Sunday 11th August beginning at 10:00 am each day. The course will take place at our outdoor venue (Benfield Centre for Sporting Excellence - at the rear of the centre). The schedule for each day will be:
Session 1: 10:00 am to 12:00 pm; Lunch: 12:00 pm to 1:00 ; Session 2: 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
Please bring a packed lunch with you.
The cost of the course is:
Seniors (over 18 yrs old) £70
Juniors (11 yrs old and over) £35
For this we undertake to provide you with all the necessary archery equipment that you will require to successfully complete the course. During each session you will be supported and guided by Archery GB qualified coaches and senior archers. The aims of the course are to provide you with a basic understanding of shooting techniques and the disciplines for shooting in safety and with relative accuracy. We will also introduce you to different bow types and a little of the history of this ancient art. Please note that all sessions must be successfully completed in order to achieve the course goals.
As this course is an outdoor event there are some simple dress requirements for archery. We would be grateful if you would wear closed in shoes or trainers and comfortable but close fitting clothing preferably including a long sleeve top. If the weather is a little inclement then a waterproof/warm top and robust footwear would be advisable.
Just in case you are tempted to buy your own equipment we strongly recommend that you do not purchase any equipment until you have completed the beginners course.
The course has mixed participation with both Adult & Junior places available. Juniors must be accompanied by a responsible adult throughout the course. We also recommend that where possible attendees should arrive 10 minutes early to allow for a prompt start to the sessions.
Data Security:
Upon joining the course via Eventbrite information may be collected and shared with the coaching team and Club Secretary for the purpose of assessing participation and providing you with further support. The information collected would be for example: name, gender, date of birth, Email, address, phone number, and relevant information relating to disability.
