About this Event
Dr. Elizabeth S. Greene, President of the Archaeological Institute of America and Professor at Brock University’s Department of Classics and Archaeology, discusses her fascinating maritime fieldwork undertaken along with Stanford University Professor Justin Leidwanger. Presented in collaboration with AIA’s New York Society as well as the Friends of the New York Society, this lecture focuses upon underwater archaeology in one corner of Sicily. Explored will be the long-term nautical connections between a late antique church wreck which sank while carrying more than 100 tons of architectural marble, a historic wooden fishing vessel, and a contemporary displacement boat.
