Photography is a great way to take notice, connect and feel better. Whether you’re a budding photographer or have never created a photo before, join us for a walk around Stockport to experience the wellbeing benefits of photography and connecting with nature.
Each month, you'll be guided through the walk, focusing on prompts as we walk, talk and capture our surroundings in the heart of Stockport. We'll be on hand to help get the images you want to take or discuss ideas and techniques. Meet at Arc at Hat Works at 10:30. The walk lasts about an hour before returning to Arc's cafe where we'll share images and discuss our experiences. The maximum size of the group will be 20 people.

Engaging all of our senses and using prompts we can reconnect with ourselves and our environment - when we bring our attention and appreciation to the present moment we shift our attention away from usual concerns and we bring about meaningful connections. We find beauty in things that we might otherwise overlook. In these sessions we will be using photography to notice nature and how it makes us feel.
There is a growing evidence base that we need to reconnect people with nature because of the state of nature, links to pro-environmental and conservation behaviours and the known benefits to health and wellbeing. Research has been carried out by Miles Richardson and his team at Derby University who work in association with National Trust, Natural England, Wildlife Trusts as well as Natural Environment Research Council and others.
Hat Works Cafe is open from 10:00 until 16:00 on Thursdays (and Fridays, 11:00-15:00 on Saturdays), if you'd like a coffee beforehand or a toastie / soup afterwards.
Our classes are inclusive and supportive, providing space to grow and learn together. Whether you're an experienced artist or taking your first steps, we welcome all abilities.
As we are a charity, there is a small charge of £5 for this event. If you are unable to pay using this online platform, please pay on the day at Arc. If you want to attend and are unable to pay, please contact [email protected] and we will be happy to arrange a free ticket for you.
