About this Event
Come join us at the Zakat Foundation of America Burooj Library to learn about the art and significance of Arabic calligraphy!
This event would be a full-day workshop (e.g., 10:00 am - 4:00 pm) with a one-hour lunch/prayer break. Ustadh Khalid will talk about classical learning methods of calligraphy, the significance of the silsila (lineage) of calligraphy, and the relationship between masters and students. He will discuss the tools and materials of the art and share pictures/slides. The majority of the workshop will be a practical writing session guided by Ustadh Khalid. Students will be given short writing exercises and be taught how to write various letters of the Arabic alphabet. All materials will be provided, and participants can take them home. Light lunch/refreshments will be provided for attendees during the event.
