The Volusia County Explore Volusia program invites you to join Education Specialist Tommy Nordmann and Environmental Specilaist Holly Giles as we paddle the estuary and identify some of the common aquatic bird species native to Florida. We’ll learn some of the identifying features of each bird, allowing us to distinguish similar-looking species from each other.
**Important note: Please arrive 30 minutes prior to organize gear and complete a waiver. Waivers must be completed in full to participate in the program.
ACTIVITY: A 2-hour easy to moderate paddling trip. Difficulty will depend on tides, wind, and currents.
RESERVATIONS: Required. Unless you have a confirmation email, your are not registered.
TICKETS: No printed ticket is necessary.
AGES: Ages 10 and up are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
ATTIRE: Wear warm clothing and closed-toe shoes that can get wet.
WHAT TO BRING: Watercraft (kayak, canoe, or SUP), personal flotation device (must be worn while paddling), emergency whistle, water to drink, sunscreen, and bug spray
FACILITIES: There are bathroom facilities on site.
