Apulian Wine Tasting with Stephanie Cuadra of LaSorte Cuadra Viticultura

Join master wine grower Stephanie Cuadra of Apulia and Valle d’Itria’s LaSorte Cuadra Viticultura and Dave Ganser, owner of La Rosa Selections, for a journey thru the indigenous white and red wines and the dry and sweet Vermouths of Apulia.

Apulia is considered a lesser-known viticultural region, but as Italy’s fastest growing region for tourism, along with growing interest in the distinct food and wine traditions of this fascinating Mediterranean region, that status is changing. Apulian wine is both ancient and modern at the same time: using varietals that date back to the Greek settlement of the region, along with time-honored viticultural practices, but vinified as export wine under modern estate grown and bottled practices. Stephanie and Dave will combine instruction with a tasting of Stephanie’s own “Silos” Verdeca dominant blend and Verdeca-based Vermouth, along with wines made from Primitivo and Negro Amaro from Dave’s La Rosa Selections portfolio.

Bio of Stephanie Cuadra:

Stephanie Cuadra is a Los Angeles native and citizen of Italy, whose passion for lesser-known viticultural zones and rare grape varieties led to the creation of Terrestoria Wine Imports. Headquartered in Salt Lake City, Terrestoria sources small-batch wines from Italy and Spain for Utah's state-controlled beverage alcohol market. She currently serves as an Advisory Board Member at Querciabella in Chianti Classico, where she previously headed worldwide communications and business development from 2010 to 2016. She is also co-founder of Lasorte Cuadra on the Valle d'Itria limestone plateau of central Puglia, where she and her husband Roberto Lasorte partner with generational farmers and a local cooperative in the production of artisanal wines. Given a lifelong interest in foreign affairs and intergroup relations, first honed as an undergraduate at Georgetown University, Stephanie finds special purpose in a form of cultural diplomacy she calls oenopolitik—the advocacy of global wine culture as a vehicle for civil discourse and cooperation.
