Emily will be discussing her new book, -- an intimate, deeply reported investigation into the battle over identity in China, chronicling the state oppression of those who fail to conform to Xi Jinping’s definition of who is “Chinese."
Emily recently moved to Washington D.C. and continues to report about China, Taiwan, and other international stories for NPR. Feng joined NPR in 2019. She was the 2023 winner of the Daniel Schorr Journalism Prize and received the 2022 Shorenstein Journalism Award for her reporting on the Asia Pacific.
