Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
ASIST is a suicide first aid training course delivered in a 2-day practical workshop. It develops skills through supervised observation of simulated scenarios. The course aims to enable participants to become more willing, ready, and able to recognise and intervene to help someone at risk of suicide. A helper can be anyone in a position of trust.
- Dates: 11-12 November 2024
- Time: 9am - 5pm (both days)
- Location: Helensburgh
- Recognising Suicidal Behaviour: Understand the warning signs of suicide and how to identify individuals at risk.
- Intervention Skills: Learn practical skills to intervene and provide immediate help to individuals contemplating suicide.
- Building a Safety Plan: Develop strategies to create a safety plan and support network for the individual at risk.
- Connecting with Resources: Discover local and national resources to refer individuals for ongoing support and care.
- Duration: Two days, 9am to 5pm. Face-to-face.
- Interactive Learning: Includes role-playing, group discussions, and hands-on practice to reinforce learning.
- Certification: Participants receive a certificate of attendance upon completion.
