About this Event
Trusted by professionals yet learnable by anyone, LivingWorks Applied Suicide Intervention
Skills Training (ASIST) is the only workshop of its kind. In this two-day in-person workshop,
participants learn an evidence-based suicide intervention model to intervene and help prevent the immediate risk of suicide. Developed in 1982 and regularly evaluated and updated to reflect best-practice in suicide prevention, ASIST has over 30+ peer-reviewed studies proving its ability to reduce thoughts of suicide for those at risk.
Participants in ASIST:
- Skills to provide a suicide first-aid intervention
- Work to develop a personalised safety plan for someone with thoughts of suicide to keep “safe-for-now”
- Connect the person with thoughts of suicide to further help
- Acquire skills in an evidence-based intervention model, with the assistance of two LivingWorks registered trainers

Karen Prestidge

Karen is a highly experienced facilitator who values creating safe spaces for learning and
sharing. All training is delivered utilising an experiential, participatory framework where group cohesion is developed, and participants invited to collaborate. Currently Karen delivers a range of programs such as Accidental Counsellor Skills, Self-Care, Trauma Informed Practice, Psychological First Aid, Domestic and Family Violence (DV-alert) and Suicide Prevention training such as ASIST and safeTALK. Additionally, she provides consultation for project work and the development of workforce learning.
Robyn Lawrence

Robyn is a dedicated, passionate and highly experienced facilitator, with over 20 years’
experience strengthening and supporting communities, individuals, teams and organisations. Robyn has experience delivering a range of learning programs, particularly in the suicide prevention space, and is an Accredited Gold ASIST Trainer; ASIST T4T Coach; and safeTALK Trainer and T4T Instructor.
