The application period for the Fort Mill Fire Department Firefighter Recruit Hiring process is now open and will run through 12:00pm (noon) EST on Friday, January 3rd, 2024. To apply for the position please complete the application at:

Following evaluation of all applications, eligible applicants will receive invitations and instructions on the written and physical agility tests. The written exam does not require applicants to have prior knowledge about fire services work. During the physical agility test candidates will perform several tasks similar to those performed by firefighters on the job.
Applicants selected to move forward may be invited to an in-person Panel Interview that will be scheduled between the dates of January 13th-31st, 2025.
Applicants selected to move forward may be issued a conditional offer of employment at this stage and begin the new hire process.
Background, criminal history, motor vehicle, and reference checks will be conducted.
The FMFD follows the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1582 medical guidelines. FMFD will schedule candidates for their NFPA 1582 physical and cover the cost of the physical.
Upon hiring approval and cleared results from the pre-employment screening, candidates will receive a formal offer of employment to begin Recruit School on Monday, March 24th, 2025.
Firefighter Recruits are paid full-time employees who are eligible for all benefits the first of the month after their start date. The starting salary for a Firefighter I is: $50,072.70.
