About this Event

Celebrate Fall and Harvest Season at Queens Botanical Garden!

There'll be live music, free tastings of local apples and honey from our own hives, themed craft activties, tours, local vendors, a bar selling seasonal drinks, opportunities to meet our bees and beekeeper, and much much more!

Registration encouraged; walk-ins welcome

Confirmed performers include:

Danni Wu Jazz Trio

The Danni Wu Jazz Trio blends classic jazz with Asian influences and fresh interpretations of Chinese songs. Led by vocalist Danni Wu, the trio brings audiences a soulful, cross-cultural sound that is both intimate and dynamic

Karla Florez School of Dance

Karla Florez School of Dance created Bees Dance as a performance to raise awareness about bees 🐝 🐝. It is an original artistic work involving dance, storytelling, and music.

Most of the live music will be performed with traditional drums and wind instruments from the Caribbean region of Colombia such as Gaitas that are partly made with beeswax. Another musical part of the piece will be Colombian Champeta, an upbeat rhythm also from the Caribbean coast and with African roots. The choreography will represent a variation of the movements used for communication by the honeybees. We invite the audience to further connect with this performance by participating in a final parade with the performers, embracing feelings of “sweetness”, joy, hope, and resistance.

AANI

Aaron "Aani" Kisslinger (they/them) is a vocalist, brass player, multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, songwriter, and storyteller. They draw on Klezmer, Yiddish music, and Balkan Brass to construct a sanctuary through sound.

At Apples and Honey Day, they will lead a celebration of the autumn harvest, and of sweetness through song! Singing and playing trombone, shofar, and live electronics, AANI will share original music, rework of Yiddish songs and Klezmer melodies, and draw on cantorial traditions and high holiday themes to create new improvised pieces in interaction with the garden's natural habitats.
