Applause for PAWS is the first annual charity fundraiser for PAWsitive Recovery.
PAWsitive Recovery gives people in recovery and animals in shelters a new "leash" on life, helping them heal from the wounds of addiction, trauma, and abuse. According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), 19.7 million American adults (aged 12 and older) battled a substance use disorder last year. Many of these individuals struggle simultaneously with mental health disorders and drug and alcohol abuse. Drug abuse and addiction not only have an impact on people but can have an impact on animals as well.
At PAWsitive Recovery, we offer Temporary Pet Foster Care for Individuals Seeking Treatment or those recovering from Domestic Violence. We offer Pet Visits for People in Treatment Centers and Shelters, Volunteer/Community Service Opportunities at Shelters, and Animal Focused Therapy in Treatment Centers and Shelters.
The gala will be hosted at the Chrysalis Treatment Center on Larimer in Denver's historic RiNo neighborhood. The evening will feature a set of performances from local musicians and a silent auction to further the mission of PAWsitive Recovery.
