Appalachian Vibes Radio Show is hosting Home is Where the Heart Is on Friday, November 1 at 6 PM at 3rd Street Coffeehouse. Donations only. We’ll be featuring three incredible voices: Solar Hex, Chanell Burnette, and Doc McClintock. Each sharing their own powerful take on what “home” means through music and storytelling.
Solar Hex (Kaily Schenker) from Blacksburg, VA has a classical cellist education with a twist of experimental folk style. She wields a cello and a harmonium expertly while belting old Appalachian melodies.

Chanell Burnette – An author and speaker whose work sheds light on the realities of incarceration, motherhood, and resilience.

Doc McClintock – A folksinger and songwriter born and raised in Roanoke, Virginia. Growing up on the fringes of rural Appalachia, her songwriting draws deeply from place and lived experience, exploring addiction, loss, queerness, and working-class struggle. With guitar and clawhammer banjo in hand, she fuses rowdy traditional Appalachian string music with modern, introspective folk.
