Appalachian Horror | Twickenham Writers

In Appalachia, there are strict rules you must follow. Don’t whistle in the woods. Stay on marked trails. And, above all else, if you hear someone calling your name – keep walking. This week, we’re digging deep into the folklore of the Appalachian mountains to weave stories with Appalachian folklore like Mothman, the Bell Witch, and the Moon-Eyed People.

Please note: you must be a registered member of Twickenham Writers to attend this event. Registration is free and gets you access to all of our members pages! Non-members will have their ticket cancelled without warning. If you buy a ticket and later realise you're unable to attend, please cancel your ticket to make space for others.

Info: We usually open the room from 5.50pm. This is the perfect time to make a drink in our kitchen and get settled before the session starts at 6pm.

Info: Time to meet your fellow writers! We'll give everyone the chance to introduce themselves, and usually ask a question related to the theme.

Info: Pick up your pen and get writing... using one (or more) of our prompts, we'll sit and write with 15 minutes on the clock. You can write to the theme, but there's no requirement to.

Info: Next, we'll chat about what we wrote. Some writers will read out what they've written, though this is completely optional. You're welcome to share as much, or as little, as you like.

Info: We'll end out the session with an independent writing session, which usually lasts between 20 and 25 minutes - or until the end of the session. You're welcome to work on anything you like!

Info: Sometimes, we'll have quick notices, announcements, or reminders. We'll deal with these at the end. It is usually related to upcoming sessions, social events, or any changes in our schedule.
