About this Event

The GW Office of Innovation & Entrepreneurship in partnership with Ycenter presents our newest bootcamp “App Building for Entrepreneurs” an experiential and interactive bootcamp focusing on how to create digital app solutions for startup, business, and social venture founders.

Overview

From food delivery to finding your next movie (and finding a date to the movie), in today’s world, people need solutions on their fingertips (quite literally). Cell and mobile phones have become ubiquitous with how one deals with everyday life. Yet many entrepreneurs and innovators are unsure how to go about conceptualizing, designing, and making apps user friendly and solve the customers problems. Often saying, “I need to get a developer” before taking the necessary and important steps that happen before you actually need to pay for a developer.

This experiential and interactive 2 day workshop exposes students to learn key techniques for building an app from scratch. How do you go from Planting an Idea seed to Creating a full blooming mobile application?! This workshop focuses on App development from a non-technical perspective. In the world of no code and low code applications, there are several tools available to build and deploy apps in much simpler ways.

Through the course of two days, students will learn, ideate, build and explore new ways to solve real problems using technology app driven solutions. We will use a combination of Design Thinking, Lean, and Agile methodology to easily build an app from the ground up.

Schedule

This event will be held over the course of 2 days. Please see below for the exact times.

  • Friday, September 24: 10am - 4pm

GW's COVID-19 Policy for Non-GW Guests

Per GW’s current COVID-19 policies, all non-GW visitors to campus must attest that they are vaccinated, or if they are unvaccinated, attest that they have received a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours prior to their visit to campus.

The university will require that all visitors coming to campus for tours, meetings, activities and university events to follow the protocol below:

  1. Register with the university at go.gwu.edu/visitor.
  2. Complete a COVID-19 symptom screening form.
  3. Attest that they are vaccinated. If visitors are unvaccinated, they need to attest that they have received a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of their visit to campus.
  4. Following completion of the form, visitors will receive a registration confirmation to the email address provided.
  5. Provide a copy of the registration confirmation to their campus host upon arrival.

If visitors are unvaccinated, they will need to arrange testing on their own before visiting campus. Visitors are not eligible for COVID-19 testing at GW’s test centers. If a visitor is unable to present an approved registration form, they are not permitted to access university facilities. Guests who are visiting spaces open to the public, such as dining areas, will not be subject to these procedures. GW’s residence halls continue to operate with a no outside guest policy.

These new visitor requirements are intended as a phased approach for addressing regular visitors to campus throughout the year. Please note that large-scale events may require proof of a COVID-19 vaccine or a negative COVID-19 test result upon entrance
