Apollo Beach Garden Club is a 501(c)3 non-profit community garden and food forest located in Apollo Beach, FL. Our Fall and Spring Plant Sales are how we raise funds to operate the garden for the benefit of our community year-round.
A robust selection of plants will be available for purchase and all proceeds from the plant sale directly benefit the garden club and its ongoing development projects. Garden Club members will be on hand to answer questions and help find exactly what someone needs.
This fall, the Garden Club is focused on installing a Bat House to help support the local bat population. As a “thank you” from the bats, the garden and food forest will receive truly organic pest control and pollination within the garden from the new residents who find such a lovely new home enticing enough to claim. In addition, the bat house and its residents will help educate the community on why bats are so crucial to our local environment.
Community Garden Coordinator, Annie Jimenez, will speak on why bats are a benefit in any garden, large or small. She will discuss why bats are so indispensable to our environment and our gardens, how we can create a habitat for them, why we should protect them and answer questions.
Since its inception, The Apollo Beach Community Forest Garden has strived to be different than the average Community Garden with just beds for rent. The goal has been to create something that lives well beyond simply managing community garden beds in a way that helps educate the community to inspire new gardeners. The Garden Club and members are the stewards of the Food Forest and champions of sharing knowledge for generations to come.
This Garden showcases just how much you can do in a small space. Trees are crucial to any garden, especially fruit and food bearing trees, because they live beyond a seasonal offering. They provide so much more to the community over time and are worth the investment to steward.
The food forest of trees and the community garden beds are the gift of the Apollo Beach Garden Club to the entire community. The trees are maturing and producing fruit. The gardening efforts of members who have beds to till offers diversity in the garden for the resident beehive and soon to be bat house. The garden is alive with members who volunteer to be stewards of this oasis of paradise and members who are lucky enough to have a bed to tend.
