Learning mindfulness and calming breathwork techniques are an important tool for regulating emotions. But what happens when we're in the moment of anxiety - stuck in a stressful situation? It can feel almost impossible to remember or even perform the calming technique.
Apiary Therapy is spending time beekeeping with honey bees in the apiary. Sessions are designed to work with the sympathetic nervous system in the moment or beginning onset of stress. This alternative outdoor therapy focuses on distress tolerance and emotion regulation by using mindfulness, grounding, and breath awareness.
A member from Half Mad Honey will lead sessions by explaining the lives of honey bees, how the hive works, and how the honey gets extracted. Sessions are intended to reconnect the mind and body using neuroplasticity producing movements and breath regulation to help transform the stress response. A licensed therapist and certified peer counselor from Project Healing Hive will assist in sessions to support individuals processing their experience.
-Apiary Therapy will be offered the 3rd weekend of every month beginning in May and run until October/November.
-Sessions are 60–90-minutes, held on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am-6pm.

-Guaranteed rain dates available for sessions booked.
(Bees don’t like the rain!)
