API OKC May Lunch: David Ferris, Chief Sustainability Officer, Vital Energy

David is the VP and Chief Sustanability officer for Vital Energy. Founded in 2006, Vital Energy is an independent energy company with headquarters in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Vital Energy’s business strategy is focused on the acquisition, exploration and development of oil and natural gas properties in the Permian Basin. Vital is focused on providing the energy vital to helping people live better, healthier and more prosperous lives.

Prior to his current role, Ferris served in various positions for Devon Energy, Anadarko Petroleum and Crawley Petroleum. He attended the University of Oklahoma and earned a Bachelor of Science in petroleum engineering, a Master of Business Administration in energy finance and a Master of Science in natural gas engineering and management. He earned his doctorate in organizational change and leadership from the University of Southern California. Ferris is a former Chairman of the Industry Advisory Board for the Mewbourne School of Petroleum and Geological Engineering at the University of Oklahoma, and serves on the board of directors of SportForward, Global Sports Partners and The Petroleum Alliance of Oklahoma.
