If you ever wanted tips on how to raise money and get distribution for your project, this is the meetup to attend. Our special guest, producer Bonnie Bertram will take us on the journey of her recently wrapped project and share best practices in fundraising and distribution.
Bonnie's Bio:
Bonnie Bertram is Vice President of Content Development at Retro Report, an independent, nonprofit newsroom that produces documentary videos and classroom resources that help connect the past with the present. She was the Director of Frontline PBS’s “Facing Eviction,” about housing and evictions during the coronavirus pandemic, and her short documentary for The New York Times on vaccine hesitancy was nominated for a News and Documentary Emmy Award. Bonnie spent much of her career as a producer at CNN. She is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, where she was a double major in English and a humanities field major with a concentration in film. One of her first jobs was at Premiere Magazine, a film magazine from the 1980s and 90s. She has been a part time Ocean Grove resident for 22 years.
With Retro Report, she has been working on a short documentary about the groundbreaking case of Joan Little, who, in 1975, was the first woman in U.S. history to be acquitted for using deadly force to resist sexual assault. They are wrapping up production after two+ years and she will talk about the evolution of the project with respect to fundraising and distribution.
