About this Event
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month and in support of immigrant communities, APA Los Angeles, in collaboration with the APA Latinos in Planning Division, the Southern California Association of Nonprofit Housing, and the California Community Foundation, is pleased to present a panel on planning for and with immigrant communities. Immigrant communities continue to face pressing challenges that require thoughtful, inclusive, and responsive planning. This panel will bring together local experts to explore what urban planners should consider during this critical time, with discussions around:
- Community Engagement – ensuring meaningful participation and culturally rooted approaches
- Data Collection and Storage – addressing privacy, ethics, and equitable data practices
- Small Businesses and Street Vendors – supporting economic mobility and regulatory pathways
- Wildfires and Natural Disasters – resilience, recovery, and immigrant-focused disaster planning
- Housing and Tenants’ Rights – advancing equitable housing policies and protections
Together, the conversation will highlight strategies, stories, and tools that planners can use to better serve immigrant communities across Los Angeles and beyond.
