The Friends of Hue Foundation is pleased to announce the return of popular Áo Dài Festival to the San Jose! The Sixth Áo Dài Festival is set for May 18, 2024 at San Jose City Hall (200 E. Santa Clara, San Jose, CA)This year’s event features an art exhibition, musical/dance performances, a fashion show showcasing designs by internationally known designers Do Trinh Hoai Nam, Tommy Le, Tran Thien Khanh, and Laura Chula Fashion House.
Chosen as the central theme of the festival, the Áo Dài is an elegant symbol of the complexity and beauty of Vietnamese culture. From the dynastic era through modern times the Áo Dài has been a source of great pride for the Vietnamese people. Through its many incarnations the Áo Dài continues to channel grace, strength, sensuality and style while remaining a cultural icon that inspires artists and designers across the globe.
The outdoor festival kicks off at 2PM with a colorful opening ceremony featuring dancers dressed in traditional Áo Dài moving to the beat of many drummers. The outdoor portion from 2pm-4pm is FREE to all.
Following the afternoon ceremony and art activities, the festival welcomes attendees with an elegant dinner-gala reception from 4:30PM - 9:30PM. The indoor program will require PAID seating tickets and can be purchase via the Festival Organizer, Anna Nguyen.
