About this Event
Australian and New Zealand Council for the Care of Animals in Research and Teaching

We’re delighted to be hosting the 2024 ANZCCART Conference in Ōtautahi Christchurch, Aotearoa New Zealand.

We hope you will join us as we explore the use of animals in education, teaching and training in Australia and New Zealand. Public confidence in animal research depends on the scientific community taking part in an on-going conversation about why and how animals are used. We will be showcasing New Zealand’s approach to the care of animals used in research and teaching (R&T) and the associated ethical considerations. There will be a specific focus on educating those who use animals in R&T, those who regulate such use under the New Zealand Animal Welfare Act and the need for openness with the public.

The conference serves as a neutral forum, recognises and respects a diversity of opinions, and promotes openness and transparency from those using animals in R&T. As well as hearing insights on this from our international and local speakers, delegates can take advantage of inclusive Science Media Centre SAVVY Express sessions and a Risk Management Workshop with Dana Briggs Consulting.

You can download the conference brochure with the draft programme.
