Why is it important to speak about land and water, light and time, a system at work?Anyone Who Feeds On Majesty Becomes Eloquent
An Exhibition of Contemporary African Art
is a collective exhibition shows works of African artists who experiment with aesthetic rupture of indigenous practices that often, mimic, extend, entwine in grand and precise artistry the vascular system at work in the natural world. The selected artists deal with knowledge production and documentation exploring fugitive moments of comprehension making visible epistemologies of the south that are situated in subaltern landscapes. These artists take as companions intangible elements such as time, luminosity, grief, opulence, & decay as conduits to engage the ineffable as a transversal collaborator.
The poem from which this exhibition borrows its name examines force of friendship and belongs to the group of poems under the sub-section, Sohbet, which roughly translates to: mystical conversation on mystical subjects. The exhibition works with this metaphor communing artists and their situated practices in a form of deep horizontal alliance.
