About this Event
We are the Bataireacht and Historical Fencing Faction, a local club that teaches historical swordplay as well as Antrim Bata, also called Irish Stick Fighting! Irish Stick is a little known traditional martial art from county Antrim in Ireland - a style of fighting with the famous Irish shillelagh (No, not the tourist kind. Trust us) .
Popular first in the Irish working class, and then almost disappearing in the 1900s, today, Antrim Bata is a growing art that welcomes everyone.
Sound interesting? We hope so! We would LOVE to see you come out and learn what it’s all about, so we are hosting an Irish Stick workshop to celebrate St. Patty’s day!
Want an idea of what this looks like in action before you come on out? We’ve got a lot of fantastic tutorial videos and an overview of the history of Irish Stick over on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@bataireachtandhistoricalfe239
