Award-winning pianist Antonio “Nio” Ajero returns to the Cole Concert Hall stage on Monday July 15 at 7:00 pm to perform two piano sonatas by Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Liszt in the first of a series of concerts at the 2024 Summer Piano Institute at Stephen F. Austin State University. The program will begin with Piano Sonata No. 11 in B-flat Major, Op. 22, a work in four movements composed by Beethoven in 1800. Ajero will conclude the concert with the monumental Piano Sonata in B minor, S. 178 by Liszt, a challenging work with a myriad of possible meanings behind the composition. The recital is free and open to the public. Cole Concert Hall is located in the Tom & Peggy Wright Music Building on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University. Ajero is an alumnus of Nacogdoches High School and the SFA Music Preparatory Program where he studied piano with Mario Ajero, Linda Parr, Andrew Parr, and Minhae Lee. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance at Oberlin Conservatory in Ohio where he is studying with Cliburn Competition Gold Medalist Stanislav Ioudenitch.
