Jean Anouilh's 'Antigone' in a new translation by Ursula Russell. Three performances: Friday 1 November at 7.15pm, Saturday 2 November at 2pm and 7.15pm.On 6 February 1944, ANTIGONE by French playwright Jean Anouilh premiered in Nazi occupied Paris. The audience immediately recognised the spirit of the French Resistance in Antigone: the young girl who stands alone against authority, upholding a moral law greater than the rules of men, in full understanding that the penalty is death.
The production is dedicated to all those courageous spirits who face death by standing up to oppressive leaders, even today.
