About this Event
To mark Anti-Slavery Day 2024, the Tumbling Lassie campaign would like to welcome you to their Anti-Slavery Day Seminar: Modern day slavery in Scotland.
Join us on Thursday 10 October 2024 at 4.30pm in the Laigh Hall within the Faculty of Advocates Library for a discussion from two perspectives on the challenges presented by modern slavery in Scotland.
The seminar will be chaired by the Dean of Faculty, Roddy Dunlop KC. Speakers include the Solicitor General, Ruth Charteris KC, who will speak about the response of the criminal law to human trafficking, and Chris Clements from the BBC, whose recent documentary, "Disclosure: Slavery at Sea”, reported on a three-year investigation into allegations of modern slavery aboard UK fishing vessels. Clips from the documentary will be played during his talk. The seminar begins at 4.30pm and will be followed by refreshments generously provided by the Faculty of Advocates.
Don't miss this opportunity to learn, engage, and make a difference for Anti-Slavery Day 2024. See you there!
