Tutor: Sophie Sherwood
Courses description
Find out how to use plants to make photographic images in this experimental workshop. This style of printmaking is an excellent lesson in slowing down, how to be more eco conscious when making images, and how to connect with nature more in our lives.
We will discuss plants that can be used for each process, and make at least three prints during the session, one which will be processed in class and two which will be taken away to do at home.
For one of the prints we will be using turmeric, which stains clothes, so please make sure to wear clothes you do not mind getting marks on or a good apron.
This workshop is partly in the darkroom, it is very much a standing workshop and in a small space.
Student Testimonial:
The class was interesting, engaging and enjoyable, and we were able to come away with our efforts.
Material List
High contrast positives or transparencies, or objects that are easy to flatten such as foliage or feathers. Clip frames for any extra prints you would like to make on the day (only one will be provided by the tutor). Bring an apron if you are worried about your clothes getting stained.
Please be aware that the Folk House Darkroom is a small space and this is very much a standing workshop.
Please get in touch if you have any additional needs that would be helpful for us to know about, and we will try to arrange adjustments for you to better access the workshop. If you need to bring a carer with you, please let us know in advance so we can ensure there is enough space. Email us on [email protected] or call us on 01179262987.
