Born in Toronto, Gomes fell for music early, absorbing Muddy Waters, Hendrix, Beck, and Van Halen. At 14, he picked up a guitar—and never looked back. His chops caught the ear of B.B. King’s bus driver at a jam night, leading to an invitation to open for King in 2005. Since then, he’s shared stages with Buddy Guy, Robert Plant, Joe Bonamassa, Heart, Sammy Hagar, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and more. His audiences have included Morgan Freeman, John Goodman, Vince Vaughn, and Eric Clapton.
His 2022 release High Voltage Blues hit #1 on Billboard, iTunes, and Amazon, staying on the charts for 58 weeks and earning spots on Billboard’s Top 15 Blues Albums of 2023 and 2024. In 2024, Total Guitar named him one of the “100 Greatest Blues Guitarists of All Time,” while Guitar World readers voted him among the “30 Best Blues Guitarists in the World Today.”
In April 2025, Gomes dropped his 14th studio album, Praise the Loud, on Rat Pak Records. Produced by Peter Carson and Gomes, and mixed by Chris Collier, the album delivers 12 blistering tracks that push musical boundaries while staying true to his blues-rock roots. “If B.B.
