From San Francisco’s vibrant folk-rock scene to the Topanga Canyon/Nashville lineage, Anthony Arya and Jolene Dixon weave their roots into a night of rich harmonies and collaborative songwriting at The Hybrid in Eugene.
Anthony Arya Music is a folk rock artist from the San Francisco Bay Area. At age 15, he was a contestant on NBC The Voice with multiple appearances on national TV. Coach Adam Levine praised the young talent saying, “It blows my mind. I’m telling you right now, your whole situation, the way you engage with an audience, the way you sing - you are so special, dude. People are gonna fall madly in love with how you do it.”Shortly after the Voice, Anthony released his debut album, Going to California, spanning influences of rock, folk, and jazz. Songs from this album earned him the coveted Presidential Scholar of the Arts in the Singer-Songwriter category. The following year, still in high school, Arya started the Anthony Arya Band and soon was playing weekly at hotspots in San Francisco and music-rich Santa Cruz.
Audiences are mesmerized by his beautiful voice, engaging stage presence, and skillful guitar playing. Arya’s shows bring the folk rock California sound of Laurel Canyon to a modern era - expect folksy ballads and guitar-slingin rockers. Come see for yourself why fans love Anthony Arya.
Jolene Dixon’s what they call a unicorn - a rare breed of singer-songwriter raised by Music City.
And by two musical parents who have worked with Johnny, Willie, & Emmylou. Her dad, celebrated sound engineer and songwriter Donivan Cowart, worked with Dolly. Her name was going to be Wendy.
A studio mouse from the time she was born, she soaked in the influences of Emmylou, Lari White, and Lee Ann Womack. She listened to Roseanne Cash records being mixed and Rodney Crowell songs as they were written, teaching her the power of sharing our stories through music; the empathy, healing, and beauty a song holds.
And as she grew up and started collecting records by Sheryl Crow, the Chicks, and Fiona Apple, her blend of roots Americana, folk, & 90s rocker chick developed into her sound and a storied life, her coal mine.
