About this Event
Join Regina Mamou, visual artist and Director of Art Muse Los Angeles, on an in-person tour of the exhibition Another World: The Transcendental Painting Group, 1938–1945, at LACMA. The traveling exhibition Another World explores a group of artists who loosely came together as the Transcendental Painting Group. The members of the group, which included Raymond Jonson, Emil Bisttram, Agnes Pelton, and Lawren Harris, among others, explored symbolism through abstraction as a process of tapping into the unconscious. Their manifesto described the painting process as “beyond the appearance of the physical world, through new concepts of space, color, light, and design to imaginative realms that are idealistic and spiritual.”
