About the Guest of Honor:
The author of the book “The Adventures and Misadventures of an Air Force Pilot," Lt Col Ed Henningson, was born in Watervliet, N.Y., where he graduated from high school and entered the service in January 1954 as an Aviation Cadet. He completed Undergraduate Pilot Training at Webb Air Force Base, Big Spring, Texas, where he received his Air Force Aviator wings and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the USAF.
During his 26-year military career, he held the position of either Commander or Operations Officer for various rescue units and/or airlift squadrons and managed an Air Training Command Aircraft Maintenance Training Activity. He attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha under the Air Force’s Bootstrap Program and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in business management.
Lt Col Henningson has flown in nearly 30 separate aircraft, including helicopters, and served two combat tours in Vietnam, one as a helicopter rescue pilot and the other as a C-130 Aircraft Commander. Following his retirement, he managed the eastern regional office of Aerospace Management Services International and was later employed by General Scientific Corporation, Washington DC, where he retired as Director, Pax River Operations. In addition to having been a Special Investigator for the FBI for nearly 20 years, he was a CIA Field Investigator for a lengthy period and was licensed as a Private Investigator in New Jersey and Maryland. He currently resides in the Medal of Honor Host City: Gainesville, Texas.
