We are excited to invite you to our Annual Scholarship Gala on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the Monrovia Doubletree by Hilton. This year’s theme, “Celebrating our Unsung Community Heroes,” will shine a spotlight on individuals who have made a significant impact within our communities. This year’s honorees are Tomme Campbell, Barbara Gholar, Chris Loos, Typhanie Robinson, Larry Walls, and Judith Williams. The evening promises to be a memorable one, with a delicious dinner, honoree presentation, raffles, and entertainment. All proceeds from this Gala go towards helping us to award scholarships to Monrovia and Duarte High School Seniors. Each year, our organizations awards scholarships to well-deserved graduates from our high schools. This past school year, we were able to award 17 scholarships.

About Us:
The Monrovia Duarte Black Alumni Association (MDBAA) was established in 1992 as a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the educational prospects of youth within the Monrovia and Duarte Communities. MDBAA members are devoted to supporting the educational advancement of students from Monrovia and Duarte High Schools, organizing various events throughout the year to offer educational opportunities, promote community engagement, and raise funds for scholarships.
Annually, the MDBAA presents financial scholarships to graduating seniors from Monrovia and Duarte, aiding them in their transition to college. To date, the MDBAA has disbursed over $150,000 in scholarship funds, sourced from fundraising initiatives and generous contributions, to facilitate the academic endeavors of local youth. This year (2024), the MDBAA awarded 17 scholarships totaling $18,000 to Monrovia and Duarte High School seniors!
