30-75 minute field trip. Available for K-12.
Class size is limited to 30 students. For larger groups, please purchase two tickets.
Build your field experience using the menu options below:
1. Rockets
Learn about the engineering process, wind resistance and what it takes to be a Rocket Scientist. Students will make their own rockets with fins and flair, learn about how wind resistance plays a role in how we build rockets, and launch your rocket on our rocket launcher. (30 minutes)
2. Water, Water Everywhere- Boats
Learn about the properties of water and how we use those properties to make boats that carry tons of items across the sea. Students will work togther to make a foil boat that can hold the most pennies before sinking. Truly a test in buoyancy and determination! (30 minutes)
3. Junior Judge Experience
Take a look at all the amazing projects made by our Science Fair participants and help us choose which ones will get the "Fan Favorite" awards. Students will look through all the science projects in the museum and help us determine the "Elementary School Favorite award" or the "Peer Reviewed award". We hope that students will get inspired and see themselves participating in the San Francisco Middle School Science Fair. (30 minutes)

Can my class see the rest of the Museum?
Yes! The ticket includes admission to explore the rest of the museum.
Do you accommodate special needs students?
Our instructors are chosen for their flexibility in teaching style and can accommodate a wide range of learning styles. Just let us know if your groups have any special needs beforehand. Our facility is ADA compliant and we have an elevator.
Is there parking?
There is a large parking lot available. Buses are able to drop students off in the parking lot.
Is there space to eat lunch?
Yes, there is an outdoor amphitheater, group picnic table, and lawn to sit and have lunch. In the event of rain, there can be space made indoors.
What is the cancellation policy?
You can cancel your field trip up to 2 days before the event for a full refund.
How many chaperones are necessary?
We prefer that you have minimum 1 chaperone for every 10 students.
