Also called Candlemas or St. Brigid’s Day, Imbolc marks the midway point between the winter solstice and spring equinox, which means it falls at a time when day lengths are increasing again after being shortest around Yule or Winter Solstice.That’s why Imbolc was sometimes called “Oimelc” in Ireland, which means “at mid-day.” It’s a special time because we start to see the longer, warmer days approaching, though this is also symbolic spiritually.
