The Lilium and Bulb Society of SA committee is pleased to invite you to the Society’s annual dinner and inaugural Summer Bulb Raffle.
The dinner will be held at the Meadows Hotel, Meadows on Wednesday, February 5, at 6.30pm for a 6.30pm start. People who have bulbs/plants for the raffle are asked to be there at 6pm to allow plants to be placed on tables. Plants may be donated as packaged bare bulbs or in pots. All bulbs/pots must be clearly labelled.
The set menu of three courses is $35 per person, please prepay to the Lilium and Bulb Society of SA Inc Cash or EFTPOS (for amounts over $10) will available on the night but prepayment is preferred (contact via DM for account and menu details).
Please book by Tuesday, January 28. Confirming your meal preferences in advance will allow the meal to commence promptly at 6.30pm.
Bulbs/Plants will be raffled in the following way: `
1. Members who donate bulbs/plants for the raffle get a first draw ticket to get one pick from the selection free, and they have the opportunity to pick before those who did not contribute plants. (The intent is to encourage donations of bulbs/plants.)
2. If members who donate bulbs/plants wish to buy more plants they must buy additional raffle tickets at $5 per pick, these tickets will be second draw tickets – which will be raffled after all those who donate plants have had an opportunity to make one selection using their single first draw ticket.
3. The committee may, at its discretion, decide to allocate additional first draw tickets to any members they consider should be entitled to have an additional ticket – for example because they donated so many plants, or because of the rarity of a donation.
4. Members who do not donate plants can purchase second draw raffle tickets – each ticket will be $5 and allow a member one pick from the tables.. should they wish to obtain extra plants they will have to purchase additional second draw tickets at $5 per ticket.
People will be able to browse the tables of plants during entrée and main course, and purchase raffle tickets – the raffle will be drawn between mains and dessert.
We will have a wealth of bulbs to choose from, from cyclamen and crocus to narcissus and other species. This will be a significant opportunity to acquire bulbs at well below commercial prices, with many not available in commerce.
While this dinner is usually for members only we wanted to kick the year off as inclusively as possible so guests may attend and join the Association on the night for $20, to take their membership through to June and the renewal date. The $20 may be paid via cash or EFTPOS on the night of the dinner or included in the dinner payment via bank transfer.
