About this Event
Our annual tea for 2024 will celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the Edenton Tea Party which was one of the earliest organized women’s political actions in United States history. On October 25, 1774, Mrs. Penelope Barker organized, at the home of Mrs. Elizabeth King, fifty-one women in Edenton, North Carolina. Together they formed an alliance wholeheartedly supporting the American cause against “taxation without representation.”
The Christmas tea will feature sweets and savories as well as an assortment of hot teas fit for the occasion. Wine by the glass will also be available.
Break out your hats! We will have a hat contest and the best hat will walk away with a prize!
An assortment of baskets will be available for the tea auction featuring products from local businesses and events in history. 100% of the proceeds from the baskets will go to historical preservation projects in eastern Lincoln County.
This annual event is hosted by the DAR Vesuvius Furnace Chapter which is a 501c3 charitable organization supporting education, patriotism and historic preservation.
