The Tennessee Chapter is excited to host our next annual meeting at Tennessee Tech University! The day will include a chestnut history talk, a discussion of TACF's science program, an overview of Chapter activities, a seedling distribution, and an orchard visit + planting demonstration. At lunch we will host a chestnut seedling distribution event.
These seedlings will be hybrids derived from TACF's backcross breeding program with varying levels of American heritage and resistance. We will ask for a donation for each set of trees to go to the TN-TACF chapter. Information on how to grow and maintain chestnuts will be provided along with the seedlings. TN-TACF board members will be on hand to help explain our breeding program, and to accept new membership applications ($40 per year).
We will end the meeting with a tour of the longtime chestnut orchard on the campus of Tennessee Tech. Come see chestnut breeding in action!
